CENTRAL MONITORING
WHAT
IS CENTRAL MONITORING?
Central Monitoring allows the fire alarm panel in a building to
contact a monitoring station as soon as it detects an alarm or trouble
on the system. The monitoring station will then call the fire
department
and
the management. This automatic response saves precious time, which is
very important in saving lives and property.
DO WE
NEED TO HAVE THIS SERVICE?
Yes, all buildings which have a fire alarm and/or sprinkler system
installed must be connected to a monitoring station.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Basically, we connect the central fire alarm control to a
communicator/auto dialler and the communicator to a phone line. The
Communicator is programmed with specific information about your
building. When a signal, fire alarm or trouble, occurs on the fire
alarm panel it tells the communicator
that in turn accesses the phone line, calls the central station’s
computer and relays that information. On the central stations
computer's monitor and printer the information is displayed and
printed and the appropriate actions are taken, i.e.: call the fire
department and dispatch the fire trucks.
WHAT HAS TO BE DONE TO HAVE ALL THIS HAPPEN?
That is the easiest thing of all, JUST ONE CALL TO
BARTEC FIRE SAFETY
SYSTEMS LTD. at (604) 420-2964
and we will take care of the rest.
ARE THERE ANY OTHER FEATURES TO THIS EQUIPMENT?
Yes. Here are just a few:
- the system checks up on itself and once a day calls the central
station to let it know that "all is well" at your building. Should the
signal not be sent or received, the central station notifies Bartec's
service department and the problem is corrected.
- because Bartec owns the equipment we take care of it. Except for
vandalism Bartec will do all repairs and maintenance at no extra
charge.
- the standard communicator can handle up to 6 different "alarm
"signals and 6 "trouble" signals, so we can add other equipment you
may wish to monitor. i.e.: medical alert, hold-up, cold temperature.
- our equipment is programmed to reset itself and send a "restore"
signal once all equipment has returned to normal. There is no need to
manually reset the communicator like some other equipment.
- we can install this equipment on an existing phone line (i.e.: the
manager's phone line) saving you extra phone charges or on an
inexpensive measured line from B.C. Telephone.
- all systems can easily be disconnected for testing and
servicing of the monitored
equipment. One phone call is all it takes.
- all monitored equipment is clearly labelled with the account number
and phone number for disconnection and servicing.
WHAT OTHER MONITORING SERVICES ARE THERE?
We also do elevator emergency voice monitoring!
